Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Their colors are red and white and their symbol is the elephant. Within two months of their founding, the women of DST participated in the 1913 Women's Suffrage March at the inauguration of President Woodrow Wilson. In the 1940's they established a travelling library in the South, where books weren't readily available to blacks. Esteemed members include olympian Wilma Rudolph and civil rights activist Mary McLeod.
